If you use it, you are required by law to register it. Please contact Unger Business Systems 11926 Barrett Brae Houston, TX 77072-4004 or call (713) 498-8517. Registration fee is $20.00 US. Registration is available through CompuServe. To register type "GO SWREG". Registration ID is 2759. All code, forms, modules, controls, etc. are provided without warranty or liability ---------------------------------------------------------------- Update 7/22/94 Apparently the sample app had some code erased from two of the events. Neither the Bold nor Italic functions were working. These are now fixed. I have encountered problems with a few printer drivers. Please let me know if you encounter similar problems. (I have not seen any problems with LaserJets.) 6/3/94 This README.TXT file is part of the VB Generalized Printer routines from Unger Business Systems. These routines are copyrighted, and may only be used as part of your source if you register them. You may freely distribute these routines as part of your application, as long as your application is not primarily a substitute for these routines. You may also distribute this entire package as long as you do not receive any compensation for it. Naturally, anyone else who chooses to use the routines must register them. The following files should have been included in this package: GPRINTER.BAS - routines needed in your app VBG1.BAS - routines needed for the demo app APIGUIDE.DLL - a DLL which performs certain functions used here ** VBGSAMP.EXE - the compiled demo app; this provides examples of how to use most of the functions ABORTFOR.FRM - a form needed in your app ABOUT.FRM - a form used by the demo app GPRINTER.FRM - a form which contains two controls needed by your app; you may eliminate this form if you put the controls on another form and change some code PRTSETUP.FRM - a form needed in your app VBG1.FRM - a form used by the demo app VBGSAMP.MAK - the VB make file for the demo app GENPRINT.TXT - an explanation of how to use these routines GPDECS.TXT - declarations needed for your app CBK.VBX - a "callback" VBX which allows you to abort the print job ** README.TXT - this file ** IMPORTANT NOTE: The files APIGUIDE.DLL and CBK.VBX were provided with Daniel Appleman's book "Visual Basic Programmer's Guide To The Windows API". It is not clear to me how the copyright laws relate to these files. To be absolutely certain that you can legally use them, you probably should buy a copy of the book (which I very highly recommend anyway). It is available from Ziff-Davis Press. These routines have been tested, and as far as I know, they work as intended. However, no warranty is included, nor can Unger Business Systems be held liable for their use. You should thoroughly test any applications which use these routines! Special thanks to Daniel Appleman (see above) for the basic information which allowed me to write these routines. Again, I highly recommend his book. If you have comments or suggestions on how these routines might be improved, I would be very interested in hearing from you. While we can provide registration at our phone number above, I am not normally in the office since I work for outside clients. Technical assistance and comments can best be handled through fax or CompuServe. Since the price of these routines is only $20, I cannot afford to return long-distance calls unless you specify that it is OK to call you collect.
